DMB… Under Construction

Right now I am sitting at my studio work table, turned makeshift desk. Next to me sits my whole team, where we carved out a little section of our new warehouse to work. In the background is our favorite contracting crew, working hard on creating our new studio space.

The close proximity makes it difficult to remain focused, the loud saws are distracting. About every 20 minutes I get up and see what has changed.

It's futile... renovations are slow. It is the name of the game. The spackle looks the same as it did an hour ago. The changes have me reminiscing on where it all began. Leaving my first tiny office was hard. Some days I was extremely excited fueled by the frustration a small space presents. Other days, I just didn't want to leave.

It started out as an old gadget store with black ceilings and Syracuse orange walls. By the time we packed up, it was bright and airy, the epitome of everything I love to create. If you visited us there you know our displays and furniture were always moving and changing. Our cabinets were filled to the brim with samples for renovations.

Over here in the Office Park, there are so many things to love about our new studio. From the natural light all the windows offer, to having a dedicated conference room to meet with clients.

Zoey is loving running back and forth from the studio to the back warehouse and has already made friends with all of our new delivery personnel. In total our new space is 5400sqft. and includes five offices, a vestibule & display area, a design library, private conference room, a kitchen, bathrooms, a warehouse area and the most exciting part of all, a loading dock.

I've decided to take this project in stride. The style and feel will remain quintessential DMB, just on a larger scale. Each office and display space will continue to be packed full of amazing ideas for your home. In addition our design library (now it's own separate room!) will be supplied with brand new tile, hardwood, fabric, cabinet samples.

Designing homes in this space, already feels inspiring... even if I am still waiting for the spackle to dry.
