The Carraway Craftsman home presented a thrilling challenge to DMB Design. This Jazz-Age masterpiece was full of incredible texture before we ever laid eyes on it, and we wanted to make sure none of the original beauty was lost. We strived to bring our own unique aesthetic to the project without sacrificing the rich character and color scheme inherent to such a historical home. The space needed to feel rooted in the era of its original construction. The design began with the verdant green cabinetry, a striking cornerstone to anchor the rest of the open floor plan. By removing all the first-floor walls, we created an airy and inviting atmosphere, while painstakingly recreating the home’s original woodwork to maintain its warmth and heritage keeping the rich wood tones seen throughout the project. Everywhere you look, heritage details and thoughtful recreations pay homage to the home’s storied past, perfectly balancing history and modern living.
